Art Exhibit: Michael Milton
April 8th – May 15
Featured artwork by artist Michael Milton.
The ElectricCoGallery is proud to present our eighth public art exhibit with featured artist Michael Milton.
Michael Milton, a Roanoke Virginia based artist, has been dubbed a “working man’s artist”. Michael’s choice of subject is inspired by his Blue Ridge roots. The trains and buildings seem to be nods to the past and reflect the labors of his grandparents. The railroad, carpentry, and agriculture represent the forgotten and cast aside in the modern world. His landscapes are a retreat from the technological world. This is also reflected in his choice in rendering animals, the purity of the spirit not tainted with man.
In 2016, Mike wanted to shift his focus to his original love of drawing, and began using charcoal. The focus on line, shadow, and texture create a starkness in the subject that works to convey strong feeling.
By placing known subjects in a “dream world” setting and using the symbolism conveyed by color, Michael hopes to reach his audience on a more instinctual, and primal wavelength. Each Symbol is interpreted by the viewer from their own personal experiences, and this gives the work amazing versatility and power.
